yet another change of scenery... [Jun. 18th, 2008|09:39 pm]
[Current Location |the eug]
[Current Mood | good]
[Current Music |so fresh and so clean clean]

We're moving to San Francisco...next week. I'm actually going to run cross country and track again too (I'm pretty darn excited about that). I'll be going to San Francisco State next spring (I'm taking fall term off to work...and NCAA eligibility blah blah) Anywho, I'm anxious to get back to running (it's all I know...I must return), and it gives me more time to get in shape.

oh hey! [Jun. 16th, 2008|12:22 am]
[Current Location |Eugene, Oregon]
[Current Mood | sleepy]
[Current Music |"I've Just Seen A Face" The Beatles]

I just realized that I have livejournal. It was neat. I also realized that I haven't posted since I've lived in Oregon, so here's a recap:

Eugene (Track town USA)
Beautiful summers (about 17 hours of daylight, almost no humidity, highs usually in the 80s,
beautiful...pretty much like California is all year.)
bike trails everywhere
gorgeous parks
I rescued an abandoned (and amazing) 70's-era Peugeot road bike that I have cleverly named
Pepe le Peugeot (Pew-joh)
Winter sucks (6 months of rain...I thought it was an exaggeration)
dark places
anti-depressants
I'm a barista (possibly the most coveted pacific northwest college kid occupation available. w00t!)
University of Oregon
I will graduate some time in the next decade (maybe)
I started running again (like 4 days ago)
running trails everywhere
everything hurts (I haven't run in, oh, a year and half)
There are a multitude of crazy people (fun to watch...not to talk to)
I love my husband
Will is supposed to be in Iraq by this time next year (I didn't sign up for this)

That's all I got for now. There will be more to come I'm sure.

I've kind of been hiding out in a cave for the past year or so, but the sun finally came out, so maybe I won't be depressed anymore. (I got so excited when I saw the sun that I just walked around for 2 hours and got burned pretty bad. it was worth it)and Pepe and I have been getting some quality time in on the bike trails. I still miss all my homies in Alabama!

three months later... [Jan. 19th, 2007|09:00 am]

[Current Music |"Almost" Bowling for Soup]

I haven't posted in approximately three months. I really should get back to keeping up with everyone. I just witnessed something that I decided was post-worthy. I just saw (with my own eyes) a 97 year old man walking uber fast on a treadmill for about 15 minutes. I'm impressed.
I finally get to see my husband today (stupid national guard...I have a bone or two to pick with them) We're going to Montgomery this weeked. I'll be in Auburn for the next 4 weeks or so (except on the weekends). Most of you already know this, but if there's anyone else who wants to hang out, LET ME KNOW because I will be leaving for Texas February 22 and then for Oregon in April after Will is done with training.
I started running at the end of last week. It's surprising how fast my body gets back into it after not running at all for 2 months. I guess it's just in my nature now. Ah yes, and Will and I are planning to run a marathon in San Francisco (I think it's in august). Hooray!

Fall Break [Oct. 17th, 2006|11:00 pm]

[Current Music |"Dance, Dance"]

Does anyone else have Fall Break this Thursday and Friday? Will is student teaching, and I'm trying to decide what to do with these two days. I wanted to see if anyone will be home for the weekend too.

aaaand...DDR is extremely addicting (and fun when no one is looking) :D

(no subject) [Jul. 1st, 2006|02:11 am]

[Current Music |"Too Fat Polka" Andrew Sisters]

I miss my baby! I get to see him in TWO days! I'm glad I'll be back in the 'burg in time for my birthday because I already missed Will's on June 20th :( Oh well, I got him a good present, and I get to give it to him when I return. Don't get me wrong now, I LOVE California, and under any other circumstances (that included Will), I would be thrilled to stay here for an extended period of time. The weather is AMAZING. The trails are TO DIE FOR, and there is good food EVERYWHERE. Theoretically, I am surrounded by all of my favorite things, but it's just not the same without him. I would take the sticky, humid, swamp that is Hattiesburg in the summer over incredi-wonderful California any day that he is there. ok, I sound like an over-dramatic fool in love, and I apologize to those of you who just got indigestion from reading my post.

I do miss my dearest Birminghamians too! I just finished watching the graduation episode of saved by the bell, and nostalgia of high school times was soon to follow. I even replaced Santa's command to his magical reindeer with your names! (see?)...

On Leigh Ann!
On Beth Ann!
On Kid with the Pole!

On Viv!
and Schillacki!
Amanda and Cole!

On Brockli!
and KC!
On Ronda and Jim!
and Jim's sister Lindsay who saved us that night! (we would have died...or been incredibly miserable)

On Ginny!
and Kelly!
and Austin and Sean!
The SPCC newcomers to college life!

...ok, so Cole rhymed with Pole...and he is Amanda's brother, so I thought it fit. Is he still scared of me?

yeah, and "night" and "life" don't rhyme...but they do go together, you must admit. Whatever. I miss you guys. That's all.

Save Screech's house! [Jun. 18th, 2006|11:01 am]
[Current Music |Under Pressure - Queen]

'Screech' Hopes to Be Saved by the T-Shirt
By Associated Press
Sat Jun 17, 7:12 AM

MILWAUKEE - More than a bell is needed to save Dustin Diamond this time around. Diamond, best known as geeky Screech Powers on the 1989-1993 teen comedy series "Saved by the Bell," is selling T-shirts with his photo on them to try to raise $250,000 so he doesn't lose his gray two-story house under a foreclosure order.

"If the public didn't care, I as an entertainer wouldn't have been a success," he said.

Diamond, 29, is trying to sell nearly 30,000 shirts _ at $15 or $20 (autographed) each _ to supplement the income he makes as a standup comic so he doesn't have to move from his Port Washington home, about 25 miles north of Milwaukee.

The T-shirt has a photo of Diamond holding a sign that says, "Save My House." The back of the shirt reads, "I paid $15.00 to save Screeech's house." The third "e" was added to get around copyright laws, he said.

He's selling the shirts on his Web site: http://www.getdshirts.com.

I would like some opinions on my new pic. It's my track picture from the southern miss athletics website, and I just think its funny. Will says I look like I belong on a sitcom. Ronna says I look like I'm about to say something really stupid. What do you think?

This is kind of unbelievable... [Feb. 9th, 2006|01:37 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |"strings" Blink 182]

I've had this theory for a while now that the world is out to get me. Although this may sound similar to the ramblings of one who is somewhat mentally ill, I have previously built up what I believe to be a fairly strong basis for my argument. Today, I have obtained yet another viable reason to believe that, for one reason or another, there is a conspiracy to ruin my life. The problem with the purpose of this alleged "conspiracy" is that I find it all rather amusing, and I just enjoy telling the stories and bringing joy to the lives of others who think they are having a bad day. I am by no means claiming that I am in any way special. I am sure there are others whom the world has a grudge against as well, but many of these people seem rather bitter and estranged. I choose humor to address the situation. So without further adeiu (if you care to read about another twist in the plot of my conspiracy theory), I give you...

Attention all Final Examinees [Dec. 4th, 2005|12:04 am]
[Current Mood | eh..]
[Current Music |"It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas" Bing Crosby]

Twas the night before finals, and all through the college,
The students were praying for last minute knowledge.
Most were quite sleepy, but none touched their beds,
While visions of essays danced in their heads.
Out in the taverns, a few were still drinking,
And hoping that liquor would loosen up their thinking.

In my own apartment, I had been pacing,
And dreaded exams I soon would be facing.
My roommate was speechless, her nose in her books,
And my comments to her drew unfriendly looks.
I drained all the coffee, and brewed a new pot,
No longer caring that my nerves were shot.

I stared at my notes, but my thoughts were muddy,
My eyes went a blur, I just couldn't study.
"Some pizza might help," I said with a shiver,
But each place I called refused to deliver.
I'd nearly concluded that life was too cruel,
With futures depending on grades had in school.

When all of a sudden, our door opened wide,
And Patron Saint Put-It-Off ambled inside.
His spirit was careless, his manner was mellow,
He wore a white toga, he started to bellow:
"What kind of student would make such a fuss,
To toss back at teachers what they tossed at us?"

"On Cliff Notes! On Crib Notes! On last year's exams!
On Wingit and Slingit, and last minute crams!"
His message delivered, he vanished from sight,
But we heard him laughing outside in the night.
"Your teachers have pegged you, so just do your best.
Happy finals to all, and to all, a good test!"

AHHHH! girl on a bike! [Oct. 25th, 2005|10:28 pm]
[Current Mood | amused]
[Current Music |Coldplay]

After lunch today, Will and I were riding our bikes back to our apartments. Will rode by an African American girl walking down the sidewalk who was on her cell phone. She was not greatly disturbed by Will riding by on his bike, in fact, she moved to the side so that he could get by more easily, so I assumed she would have a similar reaction when I rode by... Just to make sure she knew I was coming, I politely said "excuse me" as I approached her. She apparently did not hear this. As I rode by, she turned and SCREAMED really loud. I scared the heck out of this poor girl, and it was totally not intentional. I feel bad for whoever she was on the phone with too. However, at the time, my gut reaction was to laugh hysterically, causing me to lose all control of myself. I came very close to falling off of my bike, but I guess I'm pretty much an expert at riding my bike now (as most are at walking), because I managed to maintain course and speed on my bicycle. That made my day, and I thought it necessary to share this experience with others.

um..can we say...backdated? [Oct. 24th, 2005|09:50 pm]
[Current Mood | groggy-like]
[Current Music |stop, hey, what's that sound]

I tried to post this entry over a week ago, but for one reason or another, lj was being weird and wouldn't let me. I saved it with intentions of posting it later that day, but that didn't work out. Anywho...it was an interesting entry, so I leave you with it now...(This was Saturday, October 15th)

yesterday after class, Christina and I decided to go to Wal-Mart. After all, I had run out of honey nut toasty o's, so it was kind of an emergency. After shopping for a bit, we were about to reach our apartment when a fire truck drove up and blocked off the road. I was almost late to practice as it was, so we parked across the street and decided to walk to our apartment. There were a bunch of cops around, so Christina went to ask one of them what was going on. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in the passenger's side of her car with the door open, facing this apartment building (that small detail will come into play in just a moment) Christina comes back over and was like "yeah, Brittany, close your door." Just as she's saying this, I look over and see two cops behind this car about 50 feet from me with their guns drawn pointed at the apartment that I'm facing. Then I closed my door. The cop told Christina "We're expecting them to shoot. Duck behind your car" We definitely got the hell out of there and went to target. I got the coolest sports bra there. (Target rocks my world) Then we went to Ross, and I got a Columbia coat. It's baby blue and awesome. It was $110 regular price, and I got it for $26.99. I was rather pleased with this find. I almost got this really CUTE brown skirt that was only $6! but the zipper was broken off! SAD! Then we went to TJ maxx, and I got two really cute shirts for $5 and $7. yay! I love clothes shopping (especially when I can affort it), and I NEVER get to go, so that made me happy. I guess someone has to get shot before I can miss practice to go shopping. lol. I mean...that's not funny or whatever. Our road was blocked off until about 6:30, so we had a good little 3 hour bargain shopping spree. I also ate a hamburger for the first time in forever. It was delicious. mmm. Just the beginning of my first weekend off...

Last night, Will and I made banana pudding (from scratch). Yeah, I wouldn't recommend ever doing that. It takes years. We're definitely using instant pudding next time. Then, this morning, Will ran in a 5k race on campus, and I went to cheer/ride my bike next to him. He won. He's the best. He ran a 15:06, and they pointed him in the wrong direction near the end, or he would have broken 15. The course was short, but whatever, he is my hero none the less. Then we went on a little run, and this Husky started following us. It was sooo pretty! We went to the commons for breakfast, but they weren't open yet (LAME!), but we brought the doggie some water. (he was thirsty). So we ate sushi for breakfast. and banana pudding. It was incredible. Will is in the homecoming parade this afternoon, so that will be fun. Then football game tonight! w00t! and my boo is taking me to RED LOBSTER tonight, because he won a gift certificate from winning the race this morning. yay for weekends!
